This short poem sits with a lifelong hope — that there is some solid rock, some divine wisdom, at the center of everything — and lands on the courage and inner voice we can actually count on. I wrote it because whether or not the universe has a center, I have found that ours had better.

We hope there is a rock at the center of all existence
We hope there is divine wisdom at the center of all existence
What exists is the rock of our own personal courage
What exists is our own divine voices within
So we should make “no small plans, for they have
not the power to stir [our] souls”
