A Thousand, Thousand Pods

A digital world is like no other reality we have experienced.

In my lifetime, I haven’t experienced anything more powerful than the digital network which created breakthroughs like the internet.

When as individuals we participate in the digital network we become a pod in the network.

Interconnecting Pods

A digital world is a network of interconnecting pods that are created according to interest and need. For example, a girl I went to high school with knocked on my door recently. I recognized her immediately. She looked up my address and home on her GPS. I hadn’t seen her in decades.

Her husband was having a bout with cancer and being treated at the local university hospital. They needed a little bit of moral support. Of course, we were there for them.

How was that made possible? The digital world connects pods irrespective of distance or locality. In the digital network, pods don’t spread across the universe, they exist in the same place.

In a digitally connected world of pods, there are no boundaries; hence there is nothing to divide us into spatial geographies.

Technically, a pod is a point in the digital network that has no particular location in time or space. When you personally participate in the digital network, you become a pod – a point in the network. Hence, in a very direct sense, you lose your corporality.

Again, in the digital world, locality does not exist. There is no “there” as in “over there.” There is only “here” as in “right here”, “right now”.

It’s all Digital Pods In One Place

Pods in the digital network are more like a Kaleidoscope than separate entities that exist in spread out geographical locations. You turn the cylinder of the kaleidoscope and the same rocks turn into different designs. A digital pod is like existing in a kaleidoscope. One does not travel from one design to the next, the designs are all in one place.

Reengineered Back To A Pinpoint

Another way to look at this is to think of a pinpoint. Most of us believe that at one time the universe existed as a pinpoint. Then came a blast and the universe expanded. But, that blast can be reengineered back to the pinpoint. Everything you could ever want to know about the expanded universe is contained within that pinpoint. That is where the digital network exists, and at the very point you personally engage the digital network, you become a pod within that pinpoint.

An Artist’s Canvas

Yet another way to understand a digital world is to imagine the artist’s brush at the moment of engagement with the canvas. At that very point of contact, all is known about the streak that is about to be smeared across the canvas. If we were to reverse the action and reverse the streak back to the moment of the paint and painter’s contact with the canvas, we would understand in a crude way how the digital network operates.

I Know, I Know, It’s Crazy

It’s a crazy way of looking at the world. The only problem is, it’s true, at least when you venture into the world of Quantum Math. In quantum math everything ends up being simultaneously connected at the same spot.

That’s Why The Woman Found Me

Going back to the woman who found me after decades. She entered the digital network and was able to hook up with me because we were two points or pods at the very same here and now. It wasn’t as though we were side by side, no; we ended up in the very same point in the digital network. Everything collapsed to the same point at the same moment.

Geography collapses, time collapses, locality and distance collapse to one point.
