Five Phases of a Man’s Life

RH

A note from Dr. Hendrix

This is a short map of the five phases I have watched a man’s life move through — from the boy who knows only “now” to the elderly man who has forgotten his past and lives purely in what future he has left. I wrote it because seeing the whole arc laid out has made me gentler with myself about wherever I happen to be on it.

A little boy only knows right now.   A young man is fully dedicated to conquering the here and now.   A middle aged man finally ponders his past while frantically preparing his future.   An old man sees life clearly, accepting himself as he is.   An elderly man has the best view of all he has forgotten his past and lives the only future he has.
