Are You Wasting Money On Health Supplements?

$20,000,000,000.00

$20 Billion dollars is the amount of money Americans spend on vitamins and supplements, each and every year.

We do this for very noble and very personal reasons: Cancer prevention, weight loss, cholesterol management, or just trying to stay in tip-top shape.

While nearly every penny spent is well intentioned, from the consumer’s standpoint, most of these supplements are frankly a waste of money, and serve zero benefit.

In a study published December 2013, in the Annals of Internal Medicine, titled: “Enough Is Enough: Stop Wasting Money on Vitamin and Mineral Supplements”, Dr. Lawrence J. Appel and his colleagues, wrote a scathing article about the supplement industry, saying “Most supplements do not prevent chronic disease or death, their use is not justified, and they should be avoided.”

In a three-part, multi-year study, they studied the use of multivitamins for their effects on the prevention of heart disease, heart attack, and dementia. After these exhaustive studies, they concluded that the multivitamin had ZERO discernable effect over taking nothing at all.

There are a few easy things you can do instead, to feel better, have more energy, and fight off illness.

Eat a diet of nutrient-rich foods. More fruits and vegetables. Reduce trans-fats, saturated fats, and salt.

Swap your vitamin-infused-sugar-water and soda for green tea and water.

Finally, get up and move. Exercise regularly.
