Trump has it right. He is opening the banking system so that if the worst happens the Fed chairman will buy all the loans and pay for them out of the treasury. Plus, he will help banks to extend lines of credit, issue checks to workers, and pay bills of businesses who have ceased up.
Trump has it right, signing the 2.2 trillion dollar stimulus package. It pays workers to stay in place, it pays rents of small businesses. If need be the government will buy portions of businesses in need.
I do not claim expertise in infectious disease. But, I lived through one when there was no cure. I was hit by the Polio virus. Most kids didn’t get it. Normal activities continued on with similar precautions. There was a shortage of beds, nurses, doctors. The polio shots did not come onto the market until two years later. Trump has it right to suggest he will ease up on quarantines. After shedding tears, my mother soldiered on in taking care of me. I rehabilitated in a pool of warm water. I learned to swim. I ended up being a competitive swimmer and water polo player. I started out losing races, then I started winning races. I have no complaints. Bad stuff usually leads to good stuff.
No country or nation is doing a better job at treating the sick and laying the groundwork for a better day.
