A note from Dr. Hendrix
This one came out as a poem — my wife the sociologist tracing her Celtic tribe, me the psychologist chasing my soul, both of us searching once the babies had grown and the work had wound down. I wrote it because in the quiet after a busy life, the question “who are we, really?” finally has room to be asked.

My wife majored in sociology,
Me, psychology.
We had babies,
And the work world began.
.
Then, the babies left,
And the work world ended.
.
My wife started searching for her ancient tribe,
Me, for my soul.
.
Ten years of searching passed.
Cheri found her tribe – the Celts of Ireland.
My soul is my heart and head.
.
Sociology paid off for my wife. She’s a Celt
Psychology paid off for me. My heart is jazz?
My head . . . Lakers. (That’s what popped up.)
.
It’s time to go forward.
It’s 1:17 a.m.
My Irish Celt is by my side.
My heart has always been right there with her.
My head, it follows my heart.
